Hunting truffles in San Giovanni d'Asso

The fair is held on the first and second weekend of November and it is a wonderful opportunity to taste the truffle but also to visit this charming village, home to the first museum dedicated to the tuber, which opened in 2004. The museum is housed in the basement of the fourteenth-century Castle of San Giovanni.

An area of 250 square meters divided into four nuclei exhibit. "The truffle and the senses" so it was named the main route, a synthesis of all the sensations that gives the so-called "garlic of the rich." The truffle is not only a tasty treat but also a kind of "ecological sentinel": in fact, it does not grow where the situation is degraded by environmental point of view.

It also represents a good symbiosis between man and nature, where man has taken care of and respected the environment. The festival is held with the support and participation of five other areas: in addition to San Giovanni d'Asso, even Asciano, Buonconvento, Monteroni d'Arbia and Serre Rapolano that alternate in the other two weekends in November, allowing tourists, lovers and gourmand to discover the beauty of this area which, in the collective imagination, is one of the most picturesque corners of Tuscany.
