At the “Mangia” restaurant at Hotel Athena in Siena you will experience a range of Tuscan flavors, also those suitable for vegetarians, such as the classic dish Ribollita and Pappa al Pomodoro.

Our kitchen

Our menu ranges from the great Tuscan classics to more creative and modern dishes, all made with local, natural, organic ingredients. Every day our chef prepares gnocchi, pici, and fresh ravioli, served with wild boar or truffle sauce, as well as dishes suitable for children, vegans, diabetics, and celiacs.


Each morning you can taste our homemade breakfast in the lovely Sala Mangia of the restaurant or in the Sala Palio. Our kitchen team produces fresh tarts, warm pastries, and muffins with jam or chocolate. Don’t miss the delicious zero-miles recipes, to give you a real taste of Siena’s traditional sweets. In addition you will find a wide range of cheeses, jams, white, whole-wheat, and multigrain bread, and local fruit and vegetables. Eggs, bacon, toast, fresh orange juice, coffee, cappuccino, and tea complete the morning menu. We can also prepare upon request options for gluten-free, vegan, vegetarian and low-fat.

Dining room and terrace

Dinner is served at the “Mangia” restaurant every evening from 7 pm to 9:30 pm in the main room, a charming traditional room brightened up by an original trompe l'oeil painting of scenes from the Palio. In the summer you can book your table on our panoramic terrace, to fully savor your Tuscan dinner while enjoying the view over the hills outside Siena.
